Camp Details
Structure
Maker Camp is for kids who are entering 1st-6th grade in the fall. We group kids by grade: 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade. Each "crew" has 6-8 kids, a crew leader, and an assistant crew leader, meaning our leader-to-camper ratio is very low! The crew stays together all week, and they get to develop deep relationships with each other and their leaders.

Each day, the crew does a hands-on creative project at a "station." These projects are developed by wonderful volunteers and vary from year to year. Younger kids will do a different type of project each day, while older kids may have more integration across projects.
Leaders
Maker Camp is an opportunity to develop intergenerational relationships! Camp is staffed by adults and youth from The River Church who are excited to share their love of God and their love of making things with kids!

All staff (paid and volunteer) go through screening, training, and are supervised by church staff. We have strict child-protection policies and a buddy-system for trips to the restroom.
Friday celebration
The Friday closing celebration is a unique Maker Camp tradition that you won't want to miss! All families (parents, siblings, etc.) are invited to join us to meet your kid's new friends and see what they made!

Cost
We ask that families pay $150 per child for Maker Camp. We want to be transparent about how that money gets used:

$60 per child for project materials (they make some pretty cool things!)

$50 per child for all other supplies, food, and program administration

$40 per child contributes to staffing costs and scholarships

The church subsidizes facilities costs and most staffing costs. We are grateful for the many volunteers who help make camp possible!
